  • Work Placement Requirement

    Students must complete 160 hours of work placement in a regulated early childhood education and care service as part of this course. These hours may be completed either:

    • As an employee of a regulated early childhood education and care service, or
    • As a North Regional TAFE work placement student

    For students who are not currently employed in a regulated early childhood education and care service, assistance will be provided to help secure a suitable placement. Work placement attendance arrangements, including days and hours, will be negotiated directly with the host employer.

    During the placement, students will observe professional practice, develop practical skills, and apply theoretical learning while working under the guidance of a workplace supervisor.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

    RPL is a formal assessment process that allows you to gain credit for the skills, knowledge, and experience you've already acquired—whether through work, training, volunteering, or life experience. RPL is a non-teaching pathway. You must provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate your competency. If you can demonstrate that you meet the requirements of a unit of competency, you may not need to undertake formal training for that unit.

    RPL is available for individual units, multiple units, or even full qualifications that are offered at North Regional TAFE.

  • Eligibility for Concession

    Persons and dependants of persons holding certain types of cards or are in receipt of certain types of Centrelink benefits are eligible for the concession rate on course fees.

    Important: If your concession is valid for the full enrolment period, then all units you enrol in within that period will attract the concession rate. If your concession is valid for only part of the enrolment period, then only eligible units that you enrol in on or after the start date and prior to the expiry of the concession will attract the concession rate.

    Proof will be required to verify your eligibility for concession rates.

    North Regional TAFE (NRT) offers a range of payment options. These include:

    • Payment plan ($100 deposit required)

    Outstanding Fees

    Any expenses, costs or disbursements incurred by North Regional TAFE in recovering any outstanding monies including debt collection fees and solicitor's costs shall be paid by the student or guarantor if the student is under 18 years of age.

    If enrolment fees are not paid in full at the time of enrolment, North Regional TAFE requires a minimum deposit of $100 to commence a payment plan.
